The year is nearly closing and I want to say a sincere heartfelt thankyou to all my Patreons.

https://www.patreon.com/KevinSaunders

While I am working on an official animation using the Amiga for the end of year celebrations I hope you enjoy the quick review of this very busy but amazingly fun year with the Amiga.

I am very proud to be part of "ReshootR" and "Rygar" release for 2019 and can't wait to bring out not only "Reshoot Proxima II" and "Iridium" but a few other surprises including some "BrillianceII" Tutorials. Before the end of this year I plan to post a few exclusive pics that have I have been working on, some experimental work for a future ECS shooter as well as other projects and insights to my plan/schedule for 2020.  As always I'd love to hear from you.

AMIGA Patreons who I support :)

It's really nice to give a little back to all the people who I appreciate in the Amiga Community.  I have a small patreon site and a few very generous people are helping my may Amiga dream come true.

https://www.patreon.com/RETREAM/
Simone Bevilacqua, deserves more patreon's with his wonderful selection of games. He caught my attention some time ago but was with his most recent game Blastaway being developed for the AmigaOS that persuaded me to help support him.

https://www.patreon.com/bjorn
Bjorn's Tiled Map Editor is open source but without it. Reshoot, Rygar, Iridium and other games would not be possible.  I made a recent suggestion to his fabulous Map Editor and the next day the idea was implemented, how awesome is that. I use his Editor everyday.

https://www.patreon.com/loewenstein
I have known Richard for a few years now and have loved working with him on his Reshoot and ReshootR games.  It is an absolute pleasure and we are currently working hard on our next AAA Amiga game, more info coming soon.

https://www.patreon.com/bitbeamcannon
I have followed Michael Parent's youtube and Patreon site and after today's twitch stream was so impressed that I needed to support this very passionate and professional man.  He works closely with Corey Annis and make a great team.

Iridium - creating animated buildings and some Amiga info

Iridium - creating animated buildings and some Amiga info Creating animations can be challenging. This animation was created using Photoshop to first design the Building then using Apple "Motion" Software (similar to After Effects) to animated the glowing effects. Below you can see on the left the layers. These are then animated (fade on/off, move, bloom/glow effects used)

----- Amiga Related -----

I have a few future posted coming up soon related to Amiga development and look forward to posting them very soon.

- ProXima
- Amiga Copper Effect Editor
- Boss Machine
- Rygar

Recently I needed to knock back an opportunity to create some Amiga Demo scene work. I don't think I could dedicated enough time for extra work at this stage.

Castlevania - Akumajou Dracula - Sharp X68000 AMIGA Mockup

Hello Amigans,

I have been following a discussion about what arcades should be ported to Amiga.
The discussion is in the EAB forum

While we do have this version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VH3emf7NGg0
It is a very poor Amiga conversion, this is what I would consider a better rework (see above).  The Sharp X68000 version I have used to create this concept.  Could possibly reuse Graeme's Rygar engine, especially if you wanted parallax effects (8 colour background) and 16 foreground.
The player is a hardware sprite (16 colours), Foreground and background combined (no parallax)
I personally would prefer more colour over parallax in this instance unless we can get both :)

Sharp X68000 version:

Map Tiled Editor - Great tool helping Amigans make games

Bjorn is my first Patreon I have supported and honoured to support software that helps us Amigans develop more games :)

As most of you know, Im busy working on Iridium game, just finished ReshootR and other (Amiga) projects in the background continue.  If it wasn't for other great software such as Tiled Map Editor https://www.mapeditor.org/  my game development would be alot harder or possibly non existent.

I have now become a Patreon of this open source developer (small monthly donation), nice to give back to other developers.  What made me decide to do this besides feeling guilty using free software i use all the time and the professional interaction from Bjorn the coder.
My message to him on his Discord channel was ..... "hello bjorn/everyone.  I have a quick question.  Is there any way of selecting a layer by clicking on a tile? In photoshop for example you can hold down command key (mac) and it goes the the layer.  The layer I want to get to quickly is (Overlay Layer) but currently in (Structure Layer).  When you have lots of layers it can be time consuming turning other layers on and off.  Still and awesome Editor, just trying to increase my workflow, hope you all are well  happy mapping." ..... Not only did I get a response but also got the idea implemented, how cool is that.

I look forward to showing more of how I use this tool for Amiga development.

All the maps in Rygar for example have been created using this software.
Ok back to developing, thank you for everyones support.

AMIGA Brisbane Retro Group - Big Banner Design WIP

Recently joining the AMIGA Brisbane Retro Group, it was decided to have a big banner we can pin up at all our social gatherings. I was happy to be part of the process and here is a work in progress design using Lightwave 3D. I have attached the 3D objects that I have used incase you would like to see or use them.
While it's not the final image hopefully should be pretty close.

P.S. Donations text at bottom will have real names, from all the people who have donated towards the printing of the big banner.

For my Patrons I have also included the 3D Lightwave file as a thankyou for supporting me.

IRIDIUM - Last day Kickstarter

The last 35 days of our Kickstarter ends tomorrow.  Still lots to do but an exciting time ahead. With the Kickstarter so close to a Nintendo Switch Port.

We still have plans for a future Amiga Port, either AmigaOS or Vampire Amigas.

IRIDIUM 5 days to go - Kickstarter Campaign

Hello Amigans :)

It's always interesting to know if word gets out sometimes :)
Firstly, it's wonderful seeing the Amiga move forward in so many ways. New games, new hardware for both classics and NG machines. As a proud owner of an Amiga 1200 and an X5000 I enjoy seeing new developments, software, hardware, even emulation.

We 3 Amigans (Bastich, Akira and Invent) are currently working away on a new game called IRIDIUM.  If you have ever played or heard of Uridium on the Amiga then hopefully you will really enjoy this news. Our game is a frantic new 2D shoot 'em up with huge levels and truly massive enemy ships. Mixing game styles from Uridium, Xenon 2 and Nemesis.  We have a few interesting twists along the way.

While our focus is for the PC platform first (demo on Kickstarter), our second goal is the Nintendo Switch (other consoles possible but at this stage far too expensive).  The good news that we are very keen to get this game on the Amiga platform and are having conversations open and private as I write this.  At this stage it's either Vampire based Amigas and/or AmigaOS.  While I can't personally promise anything, having 3 Amigans on this game certainly helps.

Our Kickstarter here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/iridium/iridium-0

A little history of me:

First Amiga - A500, then A1200 then A4000. Most used software on platform was Brilliance 2, DirectoryOpus and Lightwave.

Just finished working on the graphics for the Amiga game "ReshootR" with Richard Löwenstein,  game will be available very very soon :) We both worked on Reshoot also. He has a patreon site here: https://www.patreon.com/loewenstein Richard is an amazing guy to work with if you ever have that chance.

I have worked on Rygar, initially with Sandruzzo but more recently supplied all the maps using "Tiled Map Editor"for McGeezer, who is doing an amazing arcade conversion.  For more info on Rygar please follow this thread http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=93545

IRIDIUM on the Amiga? Kickstarter Stretch Goals

We are very excited to let you all know we have reached 100%+ of our Kickstarter for IRIDIUM :)

Now we have our official Stretch Goals and successfully reach our first one, everyone who pledges £5 or more gets two posters added.

James, Akira and myself are very keen to get to the Nintendo Switch and yes we are very open to an Amiga Port if we raise enough money. Please share if you can.

You may notice the £3750 Extra Level (Acidic Ocean), I'm pretty excited about this level as it plays on some clever depth tricks (aliens coming out of the Ocean).

Mig n Ziggy 2019

Mig n Ziggy hasn't been forgotten, a copper trick update showing what the C64 palette and Amiga copper tricks would look like.

If you have followed my blog about this game you will see that I have focused purely on the Commodore C64 colour palette.

I'm curious the idea of blending the C64 and Amiga hardware into an in-between state. 1:1 pixel ratio and copper effects. The copper effects by the way (for the moment) a gradient transitions only using the C64 colours.

This game, while on hold till ProXima3 is completed, I have thought about possibly using the Redpill engine if I can't find a coder. The platform I would like this to be available on is the Amiga 1000 (the very first Amiga machine), so I need to be mindful of memory usage.

Rygar for the Amiga - Update 2019

Graeme Cowie has been working very hard on Rygar for the Amiga Platform.

He has not only created a great arcade conversion but an enhanced Amiga version using copper effects for the sky and water area. I helped with some testing of the colour cycling for the lava area. I'm very happy to say that my time spend on making those maps have not been wasted :)

Amazing work.
